Design and calibration process of harmonic energy meter based on ADE7878 chip Design and calibration process of harmonic energy meter based on ADE7878 chip: This paper mainly introduces the latest three-phase high-precision multifunctional energy metering chip ADE7878 launched by ADI, and its application in harmonic metering, focusing on the functional characteristics, typical circuits and energy metering methods of ADE7878, especially the calibration process and algorithm of ADE7878. Keywords: harmonic metering, low power mode, anti-theft characteristics, phase calibration 1. Introduction With the rapid growth of China\'s social electricity consumption, the construction of ultra-high voltage power grid, the connection of million-kilowatt-class generators to the grid, the process of home networking, as well as the improvement of power grid operation and management and the application of new metering technologies, the energy meter market has developed rapidly. China has now become the most dynamic market in the world\'s energy metering industry. The market demand for energy meters is entering an unprecedented period of rapid growth, and energy meters are also developing from ordinary functional types to high-tech content and high added value such as long life, high precision, time division, multi-function, and networking. At present, most domestic electric energy meters have the functions of measuring active power, reactive power, voltage, current, demand, voltage drop, etc. However, few have the function of harmonic measurement. In order to measure and read the harmonic electricity, the author analyzes in detail the design and calibration process of ADE7878 three-phase multi-function electric energy metering chip of ADI. 2. ADE7878 electric energy measurement accuracy The ADE7878 is a three-phase high-precision multi-function electric energy metering chip launched by ADI in the United States, which exceeds the industrial requirements for the accuracy and dynamics of 0.2-level electric energy metering. The voltage and current channels of ADE7878 are 24-bit Σ-△ type ADCs. The voltage and current effective values are less than 0.1% at a dynamic range of 1000:1, and the electric energy is less than 0.1% at a dynamic range of 1000:1, and less than 0.2% at a dynamic range of 3000:1. The specific performance is shown in Figure 1. ADE7878 provides I2C, SPI, HSDC multiple data interfaces and 3 flexible pulse outputs. ADE7878 can provide fundamental active and reactive power, total (fundamental + harmonic) active and reactive power, apparent energy measurement, fundamental active and reactive energy measurement and RMS calculation at the same time. ADE7878 is suitable for measuring active, reactive and apparent energy in various three-phase configurations, such as three-phase three-wire (delta connection), three-phase four-wire (star) and other measurement methods. It also supports current transformers (CT) and differential coil current sensors, and supports waveform data output for all channels. The ADE7878 supports multiple calibration methods, each phase stage, that is, effective value offset correction, phase calibration and gain calibration. The CF1, CF2 and CF3 logic outputs provide a variety of options: total/fundamental active/reactive power, total apparent power, or total current effective value.
