This paper proposes an architecture of a remote video surveillance system based on ARM and DSP. The architecture divides the hardware into two modules. The system control module with PhilipsLPC2114 as the central processor mainly completes the control function of the system, and the image processing module with BlackfinADSP-BF533 as the central processor mainly completes the compression and adaptive network transmission of MPEG-4 video stream. This paper also introduces the software design and implementation of embedded network video server and remote control platform. Through the custom protocol, the system realizes the reliable transmission of data and the smooth transmission of MPEG-4 video stream images, and all indicators meet the design requirements.
