Abstract: This paper introduces a signal processing method for photoelectric encoder based on VHDL, including its functions, principles, and software programming. The three functions of the signal processing method are described: 4-fold frequency subdivision, direction identification, and counting. The 4-fold frequency subdivision is realized according to the edge of the waveform; by analyzing the waveform phase, the direction identification is implemented by using the design principle based on phase change. The whole system is programmed in the MAX+PlusⅡ software environment, and the simulation proves that the results are correct. [Author Abstract]
