Sensor network positioning based on signal strength is one of the important practical positioning methods. This paper proposes a one-dimensional continuous positioning algorithm based on RSSI values based on hash tables, using a combination of theoretical models and empirical models for application fields such as road monitoring, pipeline transmission, and line transmission. Compared with the RADAR and 1-DEMRSSI methods, this method improves the positioning accuracy while keeping the computational processing workload basically unchanged. When there are fewer reference test points, the positioning accuracy can be improved by about 60%, and when there are more reference test points, it can also be improved by 5%-10%. When the positioning accuracy is the same, this method can significantly reduce the number of reference test points. A novel one dimension localization method based on empirical and mathematical model is proposed with Hash table RSSI data, according to the road monitoring, pipe transportation and transmission line applications. Compared with the RADAR and 1-DEMRSSI methods, with almost same computation, the proposed method improves the localization accuracy. Under the situation with the less reference test points, the accuracy increases about 60%, on the other hand the accuracy increase 5%-10% with more reference test points. According the same accuracy, the proposed method greatly reduced the quantity of the reference nodes.Key words: Wireless sensor networks; localization algorithm; continuous localization;Hash table
