Part 3 of this series will focus on clearing up some common misconceptions about op amp \"output impedance.\" We will define two different output impedances for op amps—RO and ROUT. RO becomes extremely useful when we begin to stabilize op amp circuits that are driving capacitive loads. We will introduce several simple techniques for deriving RO from the op amp manufacturer\'s data sheet, as well as several practical measurement techniques for op amps whose data sheets do not include RO. We will also introduce a technique for using SPICE op amp models and RO that will allow you to use SPICE loop gain testing and include the effects of RO (which is extremely useful for capacitive load driving circuits).
