As we all know, motor vehicle exhaust has become an important source of pollution. According to the plan, during the 11th Five-Year Plan period, the number of cars in my country will reach about 55 million. According to the Asian Development Bank, the number of cars in China may increase 15 times in the next 30 years. It is also predicted that by 2015, the emission of pollutants from urban motor vehicles will double that of 2000. Solving the problem of automobile environmental protection is urgent. To this end, the country has stepped up efforts to strictly control motor vehicle pollution, gradually improve the emission standards for new cars, speed up the elimination of old vehicles, and resolutely curb the trend of the total amount of motor vehicle pollutant emissions growing year by year. This is extremely critical to accelerate the introduction of OBD technology and discover and control high-emission vehicles. OBD technology has been first implemented in Beijing and Guangzhou, and was fully implemented nationwide in July 2008. This will undoubtedly play an important role in promoting environmental protection.
