An attempt was made to improve the prediction method of cavitation damage in turbines by remotely controlling vibration measurements on the turbine shaft. For this purpose, two similar turbines were selected for comparison. One turbine had extremely severe cavitation damage on all runner blades, while the other had no cavitation at all. Micro telemetry devices were installed on the main shafts of both turbines to transmit the measurement signals of portable acceleration sensors to a wireless receiving device. At the same time, measurements were also carried out on the fixed parts of the turbine, such as guide bearings and guide vanes.
