The No. 2 steam turbine of Suizhong Power Plant is a 800MW supercritical condensing unit produced in Russia. Since the unit was put into operation in 2000, the temperature of the working pad of the thrust bearing has been high, and the 12 working pads of the thrust bearing have different degrees of wear. In order to control the working pad temperature not to exceed the allowable value, load operation is often restricted. After many tests and careful analysis, the main reason for the high temperature of the working pad of the thrust bearing is that the thrust bearing spherical surface contact is not good, the self-positioning is poor, and the thrust pad oil supply is insufficient. In March and September 2003, taking advantage of the opportunity of the machine inspection and overhaul, a lot of work was done in adjusting the thrust bearing spherical surface tightening force and increasing the thrust pad oil inlet section according to the actual situation of the thrust pad. After treatment, the unit carried 780--800MW load, and the working pad temperature dropped from 94.3℃ to 83.7℃, with obvious results, restoring the unit\'s full load operation capacity. However, the poor spherical contact of the thrust bearing was not treated during the overhaul; after the overhaul, the negative thrust of the unit increased due to equipment problems; it is expected that after these two problems are resolved, the thrust bearing temperature will be further reduced.
