Discussion on Dimension Tolerance Marking in AutoCAD Equipment Manufacturing Technology 2008 Issue 3 Discussion on Dimension Tolerance Marking in AutoCAD Zhang Ailian (School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Wuhan Institute of Technology, Wuhan 430073, Hubei) Abstract: This paper introduces several practical tolerance marking methods and editing skills in the dimension marking function module of AutoCAD to improve the efficiency of drawing. AutoCAD; Dimension Tolerance; Marking Keywords: TP 391.72 Chinese Library Classification Number: Document Identification Code: A Article Number: 1672- 545X (2008) 03- 0101- 02 AutoCAD is a general-purpose computer-aided drawing and design software launched by Autodesk Company of the United States. In the teaching of engineering drawing, drawing with AutoCAD has become a compulsory content, among which dimension tolerance marking is one of the contents frequently marked on part drawings. For those who are new to this software, choosing a relatively quick, convenient and practical dimension tolerance marking method is of great significance to improving drawing efficiency. The following are several dimension tolerance marking methods obtained through practice. 1. Using the \"Dimension Style Manager\" to Mark Dimension Tolerance For those who are not very proficient in using AutoCAD software, when marking dimension tolerance, they generally use the \"Dimension Style Manager\" to mark. Its interface can \"create\" a surface according to their needs as shown in Figure 1. In this manager, there is a marking style at the top of the interface, and its parameter modification interface is shown in Figure 2. Tolerance button, press this button to set some parameters of dimension tolerance. If you do not \"create a new one\", you can also \"modify\" or \"replace\" the existing style, as shown in Figure 1. At this time, please note: \"Modify\" will affect the dimension tolerance marking before this operation, while \"replace\" will only affect the dimension tolerance marking after this operation. The disadvantage of using the \"Dimension Style Manager\" to mark dimension tolerances is that the dimension tolerances marked in the drawing are the same, while the dimension tolerances of actual parts are mostly different. To achieve this, you must use \"Substitution\" to set each different tolerance separately, so each setting must use the \"Dimension Style Manager\".
