No. 133 ) Study on Predistortion Generator for WCDMA Power Amplifier Wang Yi, Feng Baoliang, Xu Jie ( Wuhan Institute of Post and Telecommunications, Wuhan 430074, Hubei, China ) Abstract: Aiming at the nonlinear distortion problem of wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) power amplifier, a simple and effective solution is proposed, that is, the amplitude-to-amplitude (AM-AM) and amplitude-to-phase (AM-PM) curves are adjusted by a predistortion generator to compensate for the nonlinear distortion of the power amplifier. This solution is mainly achieved by using a predistortion generator designed by utilizing the nonlinear characteristics of a diode. Experiments show that the adjacent channel power leakage ratio (ACPR) of the power amplifier can be improved by 5 dB when the predistortion generator is used in conjunction with a WCDMA power amplifier.
