Some thoughts on the development of broadband mobile communication network technology in the future Shi Jinglin, researcher at the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences Abstract: Broadband mobile communication has become the focus of a new round of international technology and industry competition. The next ten years will be a critical period for the development of broadband wireless technology. Accelerating the development of broadband mobile communication has become a consensus among industry players around the world, but what kind of technology will become the mainstream of broadband mobile communication technology in the future has always been the focus of debate in the industry and academia. At present, no one dares to claim that the technology they are researching is the mainstream of mobile communication in the future. This also provides a potential opportunity for developing countries, especially countries like China that have certain technical reserves, a certain economic foundation and a market, to catch up! Whether we can seize this opportunity is still unclear. But what is certain is that China has introduced all of the first-generation analog wireless communication, digested and absorbed the second-generation digital mobile communication represented by GSM, and caught up with the third-generation mobile communication represented by TD-SCDMA. In the fourth-generation broadband wireless communication, it is hoped that it will lead the development trend of some wireless communication technologies to a certain extent! The ideal goal is to become a real communication technology power from the current communication network power in fifteen to twenty years, and comprehensively lead the direction of international communication technology development. Understanding the following questions may help achieve the goal: What are people\'s application needs for future mobile communications, and what are their characteristics? What are the technical characteristics of future mobile communication systems? How can we occupy our due position in the trend of technological development? In this article, the author attempts to write down some of his superficial understanding of these issues for discussion. Keywords: broadband mobile communications, mobile new media services, technical characteristics
