With the rapid development of automation technology, computer technology, and integrated chip manufacturing technology, the design and implementation of automatic control systems have also seen a leap forward, from single-input single-output systems to multi-input multi-output systems, from basic PID (Proportional Integral Differential) control to the current wide variety of optimal control, robust control, nonlinear control, fuzzy control, neural network control, sliding mode control, and a combination of multiple control methods. From the perspective of hardware implementation of automatic control systems, from discrete components in the 1960s to medium and small-scale integrated circuits in the 1970s, to the popular digital automatic control system with single-chip microcomputers as the core in the 1980s, and then to the current high-speed, precise, and intelligent automatic control system with DSP (digital signal processor) as the core. Automatic control technology is applied to almost all industrial sectors. Due to the different working environments, work contents, control objects, execution equipment, power equipment, and work indicators of industrial sites, there are many design methods and implementation means of industrial control. In summary, industrial control generally includes the following categories: process control, motion control, speed servo control, position servo control, point-to-point (I/O) control, etc. Process control and point-to-point (I/O) control are relatively slow, while motion control, speed servo control, and position servo control are relatively fast. This chapter will implement a digital PID controller based on TI\'s LF2407 and an external DA conversion chip. The PID control algorithm used is an incremental PID control algorithm. Then, on this hardware platform, based on the incremental PID control algorithm, the implementation of a fuzzy PI controller based on LF2407 is introduced.
