Affected by the equivalent phase center error, the azimuth imaging results of the multiple-input multiple-output synthetic aperture radar (MIMO2SAR) have \"false peaks\" and the imaging quality is degraded. Based on the MIMO2SAR echo model, this paper derives the analytical expression of the equivalent phase center error and quantitatively studies its influence on the azimuth imaging quality. The analysis shows that the periodic second-order phase error is the determining factor of the equivalent phase center error, and compensating for this error can effectively overcome the influence of the \"false peak\". Theoretical analysis and numerical experiments verify the effectiveness of the analysis and compensation methods in this paper.
