Mobile phone short messages are a new communication method. This paper first introduces the concept and characteristics of water quality monitoring, and based on these characteristics, a short message measurement method is proposed. The structure of the system, the working principle of short messages, the communication method and the software composition are explained in detail. The water quality monitoring work is extensive and large. In recent years, traditional manual water quality monitoring has increasingly exposed the shortcomings of long cycles, low efficiency and small range, and automatic water quality monitoring systems have emerged. GSM digital cellular mobile communication network is a communication public network with wide coverage and stable signals, and is a good resource for wireless communication. It can also provide a variety of data services and supplementary services, such as non-voice communication methods such as short message transmission. It has the advantages of fast transmission speed and low price. Therefore, in the field of water quality remote sensing, choosing wireless communication based on GSM digital cellular mobile communication system has good application prospects and promotion value.
