The delay of three shortwave paths was tested by using the ionospheric oblique sounding system. Based on the curve fitting of the single-mode propagation data, the relative delay of the shortwave channel frequency was calculated. The change characteristics of the relative delay of the frequency and the frequency interval, propagation path and working frequency under the condition of ionospheric single-mode propagation were analyzed. The analysis shows that when the shortwave frequency hopping system is working in single mode, the relative delay of the frequency is the largest during the noon period. The smaller the frequency hopping interval and the larger the path, the smaller the impact of the relative delay of the frequency. Keywords shortwave; oblique ionospheric sounder; frequency relative time delay; single mode propagation Abstract This paper presents the results of HF channel time delay measurements on 580 km, 940 km and 1 380 km paths using oblique ionospheric sounder equipment, and gives a curve fitting data processing methods to deal with measurements data of single mode. The variety characteristics of single mode FRTD is discussed on the basis of analysis of calculating results, it indicates that the FRTD values decrease with frequency interval getting small and paths distance increasing, the maximum FRTD value in a day appears at noon.Key words shortwave; oblique ionospheric sounder; frequency relative time delay; single mode propagation
