Abstract This paper introduces subspace methods of blind channel estimation in OFDM and its research state. The performance of the algorithm is simulated according to the symbol format of WLAN 802.11a in the presence of virtual carriers and pilot carriers. The packet length that the algorithm should select and the algorithm\'s requirements on channel SNR are studied to achieve a certain precision. The simulation results show that the pilot format will affect the convergence of the algorithm, but by adding uncorrelated pilots, the convergence of the algorithm can be guaranteed.
