In order to make the modern power grid more intelligent, a variety of data acquisition devices and information management systems are widely installed in the power grid, such as smart meters, remote measurement and control terminals and synchronous measurement devices, distribution management systems, energy management systems, user management systems and power plant management systems. These devices and systems generate a large amount of data, which constitute the main source of smart grid big data. It has become an urgent need for the development of smart grids to study advanced data analysis technologies so that these data can provide scientific decisions for the operation and control of the power grid and improve the flexibility, safety, reliability and effectiveness of the power grid operation. First, the causes of smart grid big data and the importance of data analysis are analyzed, and the development trend of big data technology is discussed. Then, the sources and types of smart grid big data are analyzed in detail, and then the characteristics of smart grid big data are summarized, the application scenarios of smart grid big data are analyzed, and the analysis platform and main functions of the smart grid big data analysis system under development are introduced.
