White Paper on the Implementation Architecture of Industrial Internet in Vertical Industries (Draft for Discussion)

The large-scale launch and implementation of industrial Internet projects has increased the necessity of exploring the implementation architecture of the industrial Internet. The industrial Internet is a carrier that builds a service system based on massive data collection, aggregation and analysis to meet the widespread demand for digitalization, networking and intelligence in the manufacturing industry, and supports the ubiquitous connection, elastic supply and efficient configuration of manufacturing resources. From the \"Industrial Internet Platform White Paper (2017 Edition)\" released not long ago, we can see that the functions of the industrial Internet are complex, which are specifically reflected in three levels: edge layer, platform layer and application layer (Figure 1-1). In the projects implementing the industrial Internet, the concurrence of the following factors has aggravated the urgency of formulating the implementation architecture of the industrial Internet: First, the scale of industrial Internet implementation has increased dramatically, and the implementation pace has gradually accelerated. Since its establishment in February 2016, the number of members of the Industrial Internet Industry Alliance has increased dramatically to more than 500. Most companies have carried out industrial Internet-related work to varying degrees. The large-scale and rapid implementation has sharply increased the difficulty of evaluating input-output and business value, and also increased technical complexity and system integration difficulties. From the perspective of digital security, it has also increased the intensity of risk management. From the perspective of sustainability, the Internet of Things technology has not yet matured to the point where it is good value for money. The maintenance costs of related hardware products, software platforms, and system applications will become a huge challenge for most implementation companies. Furthermore, the standard protocols, data formats, and assessment indicators related to the Industrial Internet are evolving rapidly. Rapid progress and business changes require the pioneering companies in the implementation of the Industrial Internet to continuously update their solutions to adapt to these changes.
