AVR32 is a high-performance 32-bit RISC microprocessor core designed for economical embedded applications, with special emphasis on low power consumption, high coding density and high performance. The processor implements a memory protection unit (MPU) and fast and flexible interrupt controller to support modern operating systems and real-time operating systems. Greater computing power is achieved through a comprehensive set of DSP instructions. To fully exploit the capabilities of 32-bit architectures, AVR32 is non-binary compatible with earlier AVR architectures. To achieve high coding density, this instruction format flexibly provides compact 16-bit and extended 32-bit instructions. Although most instructions are 16-bit, implementing this powerful 32-bit instruction can further improve performance. Compact and extended instructions can be mixed freely in the instruction stream.
