The company's integrated tuner- demodulator CD1316 has a digital programmable phase-locked loop (PLL) tuning system that can
control frequency selection and channel conversion through the I2C bus. The tuning voltage in the tuner and demodulator is provided by its own DC-DC converter, so only one
5v voltage is enough. The internal structure block diagram of the CD1316 tuning and demodulation circuit is shown in Figure 5-9.
The CD 1316 tuner-demodulator also contains an active splitter that splits the incoming RF signal energy into two parts. The splitter
supplies power to the tuner and demodulator in bypass mode alone. After the power is turned off, the splitter can still output signals normally. The 4 MHz PLL crystal reference frequency inside the tuner and demodulator
can be used as a reference signal to generate a local oscillator signal. The tuner- demodulator provides a balanced IF output that can directly drive a surface acoustic wave
(SAW) filter to a digital processing chip.
