One-way sensor circuit

The circuit can detect an object when it is running in one direction, but not if it is running in the opposite direction. Two sensors are used to determine direction. Whether an object can block light from reaching phototransistors Q1 and Q2 is determined by the direction of movement of the object. When the object passes Q1 first and then Q2, D will generate an output pulse; if it passes Q2 first and then Q1, D will not generate a pulse.
