The 79XX series integrated voltage regulator is a commonly used three-terminal integrated voltage regulator with a fixed negative output voltage. Except that the input voltage and output voltage are both negative values, other parameters and features are the same as the 78XX series integrated voltage regulator. The three pins of the 79XX series integrated voltage regulator are: pin 1 is the ground terminal, pin 2 is the input terminal, and pin 3 is the output terminal.

The application circuit of the 79XX series integrated voltage regulator is also very simple. The figure below shows a regulated power supply circuit that outputs -5V DC voltage. The IC uses an integrated voltage regulator 7905. When the output current is large, a heat sink should be installed.
