Xinhuanet Shanghai, April 19 (Reporter Wang Wei) In 2005, the scale of China's integrated circuit market further expanded to 380.3 billion yuan, an increase of 31% over 2004's 290.8 billion yuan. According to ICInsights, an authoritative organization in the integrated circuit industry, in 2005, China's integrated circuit market sales accounted for 21% of the global 192.4 billion US dollars. China has become the largest region in the global integrated circuit market. Shanghai, April 19 (Xinhuanet) (Reporter Wang Wei) In 2005, the scale of China's integrated circuit market further expanded to 380.3 billion yuan, an increase of 31% over 290.8 billion yuan in 2004. According to the calculation of IC Insights, an authoritative organization in the integrated circuit industry, in 2005, China's integrated circuit market sales accounted for 21% of the global 192.4 billion US dollars, and China has become the largest region in the global integrated circuit market.
Yu Zhongyu, chairman of the China Semiconductor Industry Association, pointed out at the 2006 Integrated Circuit Industry Chain International Cooperation (Shanghai) Forum held in Shanghai on the 19th that since 2000, China's integrated circuit industry has been in a period of rapid growth. In 2005, the global semiconductor market grew by only 8%, while the growth rate of China's integrated circuit market reached 31%.
With the expansion of the market, the sales scale of integrated circuit chips has doubled. In 2005, the sales revenue of China's domestic integrated circuits reached 70.21 billion yuan, with an annual growth rate of 28.8%. Among them, the integrated circuit design industry grew the fastest, with a growth rate of 52.5%; the integrated circuit manufacturing industry was second, with an annual growth rate of 28.5%, and the integrated circuit packaging and testing industry had an annual growth rate of 22.1%.
The scale of China's integrated circuit enterprises continues to expand. Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) and Shanghai Huahong NEC have become the world's third and seventh largest chip foundries respectively. Annual sales revenues of several integrated circuit design enterprises such as Zhuhai Actions, Vimicro and Datang Microelectronics have exceeded US$100 million. Integrated circuit chip manufacturing technology in China has experienced a rapid development process from Huahong NEC's 8-inch 0.35 micron in 2000 to SMIC (Beijing)'s 12-inch 0.11 micron in 2005. At present, 0.18 micron to 0.25 micron has become the mainstream technology in the chip manufacturing industry. The manufacturing technology of more advanced production lines has been upgraded to 0.18 micron to 0.13 micron. A few advanced enterprises are already developing 90-nanometer technology. A
large number of new products and new achievements of independent innovation in integrated circuits have emerged. Following the CPUs represented by "Loongson" and "Ark", the "Patriot 3" digital TV decoding chip of Beijing Haier Integrated Circuit Design Company and the "Starlight" series audio and video decoding chips of Vimicro have been successfully developed and put on the market, and a large number of products with internationally advanced and domestically leading levels have emerged.
The difference between the global semiconductor market and the past is that consumer products will become the mainstream and the biggest driving force of the global semiconductor market from 2006. Mobile phones, digital cameras, digital TVs and MP3 players will have strong market demand in 2006.
