Power Management in Windows 2000 (Reprinted)[Copy link]
Power Management Windows 2000 has greatly expanded the power management function of the system. For example, you can set the system to suspend, quickly shut down (of course, it is a safe shutdown, not a sudden power off) and other operations when the power button on the chassis is pressed. This function was previously a patent for original machines such as HP. However, there is a condition for using this function, that is, your motherboard must support the ACPI specification, otherwise this function option will not appear, but almost all existing motherboards support this specification. The steps to call up this function are: open "Power Management" in the "Control Panel", then select the "Advanced" tab , and then you can select the action to be performed by the system when the power button is pressed. Windows 2000 also has a "hibernation" function, which was originally a patent for laptops. The function of this function is: when the computer battery is low, all the data in the memory is forced to be written to the hard disk and then shut down. The next time the computer will automatically restore to the operating state before the last shutdown without affecting any operation. The steps to enable this function are: open "Power Management" in the "Control Panel", select the "Hibernation" tab, and then select the "Enable Hibernation Support" checkbox . After clicking the "OK" button, you will find that there is an additional "Hibernate" state in the "Shutdown" item of the "Start Menu". After selecting this option, Windows 2000 will write the data in the memory to the hard disk within 15 seconds (the premise is that there must be free space in the hard disk as large as the memory), and then turn off the power. In addition, when the "Hibernate" function is turned on , enter the "Advanced" window of "Power Management", and the "Hibernate" option will be added . Another function of Windows 2000 is to provide UPS status monitoring. When a UPS is installed in the computer, Windows 2000 can display the current status of the UPS.
