Before the emergence of computers, many skilled craftsmen made many exquisite machines. After entering the electrical age, people used electrical technology to realize automatic control machinery, automatic production lines and even automatic factories, and greatly developed control theory. However, the automation results in some large and medium-sized systems were not ideal. Only after the emergence of computers did people see the dawn of hope. Now with the help of computers, human dreams are gradually realized. However, for a long time after the emergence of computers, computers, as scientific weapons, worked silently in the sacred hall of science, and the field of measurement and control in industrial sites was not really applied. Only after the emergence of single-chip microcomputers (Microcontrollers) did computers really go from the sacred hall of science to ordinary people's homes and become a favorable weapon for the modernization of technological innovation and technological revolution for the majority of engineering and technical personnel. At present, single-chip microcomputers are most widely used in the fields of civil and industrial measurement and control. Color TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners, video recorders, VCDs, remote controls, game consoles, rice cookers, etc. can all be seen with the shadow of single-chip microcomputers, and single-chip microcomputers have long been deeply integrated into the lives of each of us.

Single-chip microcomputers can greatly improve the intelligence, usability, energy saving and other main performance indicators of these products, bringing comfort and convenience to our lives, while also greatly improving production efficiency and product quality in industrial and agricultural production. Single-chip microcomputers can be roughly divided into two categories according to their uses: 1--General-purpose single-chip microcomputers 2--Special-purpose single-chip microcomputers

A dedicated microcontroller is a microcontroller that has a specific purpose and has a fixed program at the factory, so it cannot be repaired. For example, the microcontroller in an electronic watch is one of them. Its production cost is very low.

The general purpose microcontroller is widely used. Different functions can be achieved by using different interface circuits and compiling different application programs. From small household appliances and instruments to large machinery and equipment and entire production lines, microcontrollers can be used to achieve automatic control.

General-purpose microcontrollers are classified by the number of bits into 4-bit, 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers, etc. There are more types of microcontrollers classified by manufacturers. The most commonly used microcontrollers in China are as follows:
Intel--------- (MCS51 series, MCS96 series)
Atmel------- (AT89 series, MCS51 core)
Microchip--- (PIC series)
Motorola---- (68HCXX series)
Zilog-------- (Z86 series)
Philips------ (87, 80 series, MCS51 core)
Siemens----- (SAB80 series, MCS51 core)
NEC--------- (78 series)
Epson-------- (series)
