Design elements of integrated switches for dc/dc converters [Copy link]

TI's low-power DC/DC converter TPS6XXX and SWIFT (TPS54XXX) series of load-point step-down DC/DC converters achieve a peak efficiency of 97%. Synchronous rectification not only eliminates the cost increase caused by adding an external Schottky rectifier diode, but also can increase the conversion efficiency by up to 10%. For battery-powered applications, the improved efficiency will directly translate into longer working time, and in high current applications it means reduced power consumption, thereby simplifying the design.
