The computer cannot automatically install the driver[Copy link]
I reinstalled the Win7 system on my laptop. When I plugged in the USB to serial port cable, the driver could not be installed automatically. One cable had no symbol, and the other was FTDI. The cable without the symbol, on another computer, showed a prolific USB-to-serial comm port. I downloaded this driver and tried several other ones. None of them worked. Later, I changed the settings. In Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers, I right-clicked the computer icon and went to Device Installation Settings. The previous option was Never install from... I changed it to Cannot find it on my computer... I plugged the cable without the symbol into the computer, and finally the driver was installed and recognized. The FTDI cable was not automatically recognized. I downloaded the driver, installed it manually, and it was finally recognized.
