Talk about the powerful PRU of TI Sitara's AM335x series [Copy link]

In some cases, you may need to use a lot of serial ports, maybe as many as seven or eight. This is very rare for CPUs to reach this level. If you use other CPUs to do this through serial port expansion chips, there is a problem: the expansion chip for multiple serial ports is very expensive, sometimes even more expensive than the CPU itself. If you use a computer to do this by inserting a multi-serial port card, the price of the serial port card is also a permanent pain. Some time ago, someone in the forum seemed to ask what kind of film has 10 serial ports! Sitara has a powerful HMI. HMI equipment includes hardware and software. The software here is the configuration software. The hardware I am more concerned about is its serial port and Ethernet interface. TI Sitara's AM335x series has a digital integrated circuit pin ("CPLD") with logic functions that can be constructed according to user needs. It can flexibly configure any function you want according to your needs. It can be used to configure a serial port or a CAN bus; through the PRU module of AM335x, you can configure the pins that it manages but that you do not directly use to any function you want. For example, a serial port or a CAN bus. The difference is that when it comes to CPLD, you use VHDL, and when it comes to PRU, you use the PRU assembly provided by TI (TI provides a wealth of routines). Therefore, we can see that PRU is the on-chip "CPLD" of AM335x. For HMI products that only use serial ports, you can configure all the corresponding pins such as network interfaces as serial ports. In this way, you only need the money of a CPU to buy a CPU plus more than four serial port expansions. For high-end HMI products that use network interfaces, TI Sitara AM389x is your best choice. The powerful display subsystem PowerVR 3D 2000MPoly/Sec is enough to cope with the various complex graphics processing requirements required by HMI. With PRU, the flexibility of the device circuit is realized, and the circuit is greatly simplified and the cost is reduced.

Hello, how to configure 2 uarts and 2 IICs from PRU? Can you briefly describe the configuration process?   Details Published on 2020-2-24 13:52
