New digital transmitters provide higher spectrum utilization by using high-order modulation to maximize data throughput rates while compressing the spectrum bandwidth as much as possible. I/Q modulators allow baseband signals to be modulated directly onto an RF carrier. Such modulators often suffer from excessive sideband and carrier leakage, which, if not suppressed to the maximum extent possible, will distort the transmitted signal. The LTC5599 is a very low power modulator with excellent sideband suppression and carrier leakage suppression, and uses specific on-chip circuitry to adjust these performance specifications to unprecedented levels. In addition, the device has an unusually low output noise floor and high linearity, providing excellent dynamic range performance for mission-critical transmitters.
