On October 10, STMicroelectronics and Qualcomm Technologies International Ltd., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, announced that the two parties have reached a new strategic agreement to jointly develop the next generation of industrial and consumer Internet of Things solutions based on edge AI.
STMicroelectronics will launch a standalone module with Qualcomm Technologies’ Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Thread multiprotocol SoC portfolio built-in, which can be integrated with any STM32 general-purpose microcontroller product at the system level. The first products developed in this collaboration are expected to be available to OEM manufacturers in the first quarter of 2025, and the scope of supply will be expanded thereafter.
In the future, the two parties also plan to launch more Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Thread combination SoC products and gradually expand into the cellular connection field of industrial Internet of Things.
STMicroelectronics' net revenue in the second quarter of this year totaled US$3.23 billion (IT Home Note: Currently about RMB 22.87 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 25.3%. Net sales revenue from OEM and agency channels decreased by 14.9% and 43.7% year-on-year respectively. Net revenue decreased by 6.7% quarter-on-quarter. Gross profit for the quarter totaled US$1.3 billion (currently about RMB 9.205 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 38.9%. Gross profit margin was 40.1%
