Example of connecting Xinheng control scale instrument to Profinet through Modbus to Profinet gateway

The main object of this case is the display and alarm of the data parameters of the Xinheng control scale instrument. The main PLC of the system uses Siemens CPU and collects data through the gateway module. The weighing instrument model is XH3180-K. The gateway that connects the device to the Siemens PLC uses the Yitong Chuanglian Modbus RTU to Profinet gateway YT-PN-01.

Features of Modbus to Profinet Gateway

1. It can realize the connection of MODBUS interface instruments, frequency converters, integrated protection, soft starters and other equipment to PROFINET network systems such as S71500, S71200, CPU315-2PN/DP, S7400, etc. It is a kind of serial port PROFINET gateway.

2. YT-PN-01 is a ProfiNet slave on the ProfiNet side, and has two physical interfaces, RS-485 or -232, on the serial port side, supporting MODBUS/RTU master or slave.

3. When the MODBUS to PROFINET gateway acts as the master station on the MODBUS side, it can be used to integrate MODBUS/485 slave devices one-to-many, or integrate MODBUS/232 devices one-to-one, forming a MODBUS subnet connected to PROFINET, and realizing the technical requirements of PROFINET controller monitoring MODBUS devices.

4. When the MODBUS side of the gateway is used as a slave station, it can be used to transmit other MODBUS master stations (such as PLC/DCS) and their slave station data to the PROFINET controller. The technical principle of this gateway is memory sharing, and does not require programming of the master station PLC/DCS. You only need to configure the gateway MODBUS message in the master station configuration (such as STEP7) to realize the automatic sending function of the automatic gateway MODBUS master station.
