Essential Service Mode (ESM) is a function in which the inverter tries its best to keep the motor running without stopping despite abnormal environmental conditions.

For example, in equipment used for building ventilation or important ventilation fans in certain special industries, there is a requirement to ensure that the fan can operate normally under special conditions such as fire, and try to keep the motor running without stopping. At this time, it is necessary to use the emergency operation function on the inverter.

Setting the emergency operation function

Parameter settings for emergency operation

**1.2.1 Parameter settings when P3881=0 and P3881=1**

picture

When P3881=0 (see Figure 1), you only need to set P3880 to activate and cancel the emergency operation mode switch value and P3883 to set the motor rotation direction after the emergency operation command is activated.

When P3881=1, see Figure 2. In addition to setting P3880 and P3883, you also need to set the speed value of the fixed speed of P1015.

**1.2.2 Parameter settings when P3881=2 and P3881=3**

When P3881=2 and 3, see Figure 3 and Figure 4 respectively. In addition to setting P3880 and P3883, you also need to set the P3882 backup speed setting value. When there is no signal in the speed setting value analog quantity and bus speed setting in P3881, the system will automatically switch to the backup speed setting P3882 to run the motor.

1.2.3 Parameter settings when P3881=4

picture

When P3881=4, see Figure 5. You need to set P3880 to activate and cancel the emergency operation function, P3882 to set the backup speed when the PID speed setting signal fails, and P3883 to set the running direction of the backup speed setting. You also need to set P3884, the given value of the PID process controller after the emergency operation mode is activated. After the emergency mode is activated, if you want the output of the PID process regulator to take effect, you must also ensure that the enable signal P2200 of the PID regulator is effective. If this signal is not enabled, the PID regulator will not take effect, and the emergency operation mode will switch to the backup speed setting. If you only want to use PID regulation in the emergency operation mode, you need to set P2200=r3889.0 (emergency operation mode activated).

Note: If the enable signal of the PID process controller is effective after the emergency operation mode is activated, but there is no PID given value, the system will use the backup speed setting. Since the ramp function generator of the speed setting will fail after the PID enable signal takes effect, the motor will accelerate very quickly to the backup given speed value.

2

Operation and stop of emergency operation function

2.1

Operation of the emergency run function

When the enable signal of the emergency operation mode is activated, the inverter will run in the emergency operation mode. Regardless of whether the start and stop commands set by the current parameters are activated, the inverter will drive the motor to run.

2.2

Deactivation of the emergency operation function

When the enable signal of the emergency operation mode is activated, the only way to make the inverter exit the emergency mode and stop the motor is to disconnect the switch that activates the emergency operation mode. The only other way to stop the inverter is to cut off the power supply to the inverter.

Any manual operation on the operation panel or the stop command of OFF1, OFF2, OFF3 in normal mode will not work and cannot stop the inverter.
