In actual use, you can select the braking resistor power according to the above formula, or you can calculate the usage rate that the braking resistor can withstand based on the selected braking resistor resistance and power, so as to set it correctly to avoid overheating and damage of the braking resistor.
Calculation of braking resistor power usage
The braking resistor utilization rate specifies the efficiency of the braking resistor to avoid damage due to overheating of the braking resistor, which will affect the braking effect of the braking unit. The lower the braking resistor utilization rate is set, the lower the heating degree of the resistor, the less energy consumed by the resistor, and the worse the braking effect. At the same time, the capacity of the braking unit is not fully utilized.
Theoretically, when the braking resistor utilization rate is 100%, the braking unit capacity is fully utilized and the braking effect is most obvious. However, this requires a higher braking resistor power, and the user should consider it comprehensively. Under the premise that the braking resistor value and power have been determined, for large inertia loads with slow deceleration, selecting a lower resistor utilization rate will achieve better results. For loads that require rapid shutdown, it is advisable to select a higher braking resistor utilization rate.
