The IM2605 integrates a synchronous 4-switch Buck-Boost converter to maintain output voltage regulation when the input voltage is less than or greater than the output voltage. When the input voltage is sufficiently greater than the output voltage, it operates as a Buck converter and gradually transitions to Buck-Boost mode as the input voltage approaches the output. It also has an internal fixed soft-start function and provides protection functions including input UVLO, OCP, overload protection (OLP), OVP and thermal shutdown. In addition, it has selectable FCCM or DCM operation for light loads. The IM2605 also controls two low N-MOSFETs as load switches, which helps reduce BOM costs. With a microprocessor, input body capacitance discharge during power switching can be achieved.
