Motor soft start is a control method that gradually increases the motor voltage and current to reduce the current impact when the motor starts, protects the motor and the power grid, and improves the motor's service life and operating efficiency. Common motor soft start methods include the following:

Voltage reduction start: By reducing the power supply voltage, the current impact when the motor starts is reduced to achieve soft start. This method is simple to operate, but the starting time is longer and the starting torque is smaller.

Inverter start: The frequency of the motor is adjusted by the inverter to gradually increase the motor speed and reduce the current impact at startup. This method is flexible and can achieve precise control, but the cost is high.

Soft starter start: The motor voltage and current are gradually increased by the soft starter to achieve soft start. The capacity of the soft starter is usually slightly larger than the motor to ensure safety and reliability. This method is simple to operate, but compared with the frequency converter, it cannot achieve precise control.

It should be noted that the voltage reduction starting method has a long starting time and a small starting torque, and is not suitable for some occasions with high requirements for starting time and torque. If more precise control is required, other soft starting methods need to be selected, such as inverter starting or soft starter starting.
