EL DORADO HILLS, Calif., December 9, 2022 - Aetina, a provider of edge AI solutions providing embedded computing hardware and software for AI and IoT, has launched a new ASIC-based edge AI system. The system is powered by the programmable Blaize® Pathfinder P1600 embedded system module (SoM). Aetina AI Inference System-AIE-CP1A-A1 is a small embedded computer designed for different computer vision applications, including object detection, human motion detection, and automatic detection.
The AIE-CP1A-A1 features the small form factor Blaize® Pathfinder P1600 embedded SoM , which is ideal for harsh and challenging environments and embedded systems requiring extended temperature ranges. It features dual ARM Cortex A53 processors, 16 GSP cores, delivering 16 TOPS AI performance, and the advantages of low memory bandwidth and low latency, allowing it to accelerate neural network (NN) deployment and deep learning (DL) processing.
Based on the Blaize Graphics Stream Processor (GSP®) architecture, Pathfinder achieves energy-efficient processing capabilities and is ideal for edge AI inference workloads. It can be easily plugged into a custom carrier board and can run autonomously or be integrated into a larger system. middle. Based on its compact, fanless design and multiple I/O port design, the AIE-CP1A-A1 can be applied to commercial and industrial-grade AI drive systems involving visual AI-related reasoning. Blaize Pathfinder also supports H.264/H.265 video encoders and decoders, making it compatible with different sensors to run fast image recognition and video analysis tasks.
Aetina provides custom carrier boards and computer cases for complex system integration and embedded computing modules for chip-down design services, ranging from single board computers with Blaize Pathfinder to regular PC cases. In addition, Aetina can help developers convert their AI inference models into a format that can run properly on edge devices built with ASIC chips.
Jackal Chen, senior product manager at Aetina, said: "We are now expanding the Aetina edge computing product line to bring more GPU and ASIC-based solutions to help developers build their AI systems across various verticals and industries. AIE-CP1A- A1 is Aetina’s first ASIC-based system powered by the Blaize Pathfinder P1600 SoM. In the future, by integrating different types of chips and modules, we can provide heterogeneous computing devices suitable for different AI models.”
"Keeping AI processing and inference workload data at the edge (rather than sending it to the cloud) is critical for cost-effective and virtually latency-free AI applications," said Dinakar Munagala, CEO and co-founder of Blaize. Blaize Pathfinder SoM and GSP architecture achieve this key business goal and meet computer vision applications including object detection, autonomous optical inspection, robotics, etc.”
In addition, Aetina is now developing more ASIC-based AI accelerators with M.2 and EDSFF specifications for developers to accelerate the inference processing of its edge AI modules.
