Latest version of IAR Embedded Workbench for RISC-V supports K510 chip, simplifying the development of next-generation image processors
Shanghai, China – November 23, 2022 – IAR Systems, a global leader in embedded development software and services, and Canaan Inc., a leading edge AI chip R&D supplier, today announced that IAR Systems’ latest Embedded Workbench for RISC-V 3.11.1 version now supports Canaan’s K510 chip, facilitating the development of dual-core RISC-V 64-bit AI edge inference chips.
IAR Embedded Workbench for RISC-V is a complete C/C++ compiler and debugger toolchain that integrates everything an embedded developer needs into the same integrated development environment (IDE), and integrates code analysis tools to ensure code quality. Through excellent optimization technology, IAR Embedded Workbench for RISC-V can help developers ensure that applications meet requirements and optimize the utilization of onboard memory. The latest version of Embedded Workbench for RISC-V 3.11.1 released by IAR Systems includes multiple functional extensions and multi-core debugging improvements, adds Visual Studio Code extension plug-ins, and supports a variety of new core IPs and chips, including the Canaan K510 chip.
Canaan K510 supports multiple operating systems such as Linux and RTOS, uses a 64-bit RISC-V dual-core CPU, has powerful NPU computing power and computing accuracy, and has a greatly upgraded visual subsystem, which can achieve RGB/IR fusion, fisheye correction, wide dynamic range HDR and hardware 3A. It is suitable for drone high-definition aerial photography, high-definition panoramic video conferencing, robots, STEAM education, driving assistance scenarios, industrial and professional cameras. The launch of K510 makes Canaan's AI tool chain system more mature and reliable.
Tang Weiwei, vice president of Canaan Technology, said: "Canaan has always been committed to the AI + RISC-V technology route. In the process of developing three generations of AI chips, it has insisted on the open source technology route and contributed a large number of open source projects. As a leading company in embedded system development tools and services, IAR Systems has deep technical accumulation in compilation tool chains and debugging tools. We hope that this new version release will serve as an opportunity for cooperation. Both parties will jointly enrich and improve the RISC-V software ecosystem, so that customers and the community can get a better product development and design experience."
Anders Holmberg, CTO of IAR Systems, said: "Canaan is a leading Chinese AI chip company that has attracted much attention in the market for its high-performance image processing and comprehensive open source features. We are very pleased to cooperate with Canaan to expand our construction of RISC-V technology and ecosystem and provide professional development tools that meet the latest needs. Image processing and artificial intelligence algorithms involve a large amount of data and operations. IAR Embedded Workbench for RISC-V helps minimize response time and increase throughput, so that algorithms can run faster on Canaan's next-generation multi-core image processors, fully releasing and utilizing the full potential of the chip."
In addition to the development tool chain IAR Embedded Workbench for RISC-V, IAR Systems has also developed a cross-platform build tool and a functional safety certified version of the tool chain for RISC-V. In addition, IAR Systems has also set up a direct sales team in China to provide customers with fast, professional and localized technical support services.
