KVM switch allows administrators to control the computer peripherals of multiple servers or computer hosts through a set of keyboards, mice, and monitors to achieve high manageability of systems and networks, improve the work efficiency of managers, save computer room space, and reduce the overall cost of network server systems.
Solution Overview
The cascaded 8-port KVM design mainly includes the following parts:
Source signal port: including Video signal (VGA) port, USB keyboard port, USB mouse port; or as a cascade port for upward connection;
Signal switching port: provides 8-channel switching interfaces to transfer out Video signals and USB signals;
Downward cascade port: used to connect to the next level switch to achieve more channel switching functions;
Dial code configurator: set the current switch function mode: single/cascade; switch hot key selection;
Indicator light/digital tube: working status indication, channel status indication;
Control keyboard: Manual switch.
This KVM switch uses CH9350 to convert the USB signals of USB mouse and keyboard devices into serial data signals, and switch synchronously with the VGA signal of the video. A single switch can realize 8 switching channels. If more switching channels are required, the switch can be configured in cascade mode, and the cascade port of the switch can be connected to the source signal port of the next-level switch through a dedicated cable. This solution supports configurable keyboard hotkey switching, physical key switching, dynamic retrieval of valid switching channels, and provides status indication.
