Powerful and affordable industrial-grade product: VC DragonCam with Snapdragon processor now available
Vision Components developed the new VC DragonCam based on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor.
VC DragonCam integrates an image sensor, a powerful Snapdragon processor, and common interfaces on a 65×40 mm board
The company has fully utilized the computing power and price/performance of the quad-core processor, which has been proven in countless consumer products for industrial-grade embedded vision systems. The VC DragonCam board camera integrates an image sensor, various common interfaces and a processor running a Debian-based operating system in a small size of 65 x 40 mm, providing an ideal design choice for OEMs of programmable embedded vision systems.
The VC DragonCam features 12 GPUs, 1 GB of RAM and up to 32 GB of flash memory and has standard interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet and RS-232 integrated onboard. Two adapter boards with additional interfaces as regular interfaces allow easy connection of peripherals and are ideal for rapid prototyping. Vision Components has integrated the high-end CMOS sensor Sony Pregius IMX 273 in its new embedded vision system series. With a resolution of 1456 x 1088 pixels and a frame rate of 225 fps, this global shutter sensor is best suited for applications with short exposure times and high speeds. In addition to the monochrome model, a color camera is available on request. VC DragonCam models with other Sony sensors are in development. As with all VC cameras, the manufacturer ensures long-term availability of the product.
About Vision Components
Vision Components is a leading international manufacturer of embedded vision systems. The company's freely programmable cameras come with a powerful onboard CPU that can perform image processing tasks independently, without the need for an additional computer. Vision Components offers OEMs versatile Linux-based embedded systems for 2D and 3D image processing in the form of onboard cameras and protective cases. At the same time, the company is also adding an increasing number of ultra-small MIPI camera boards that connect to a variety of different CPU boards. In addition, Vision Components provides software libraries and develops customized solutions according to customer requirements. The company's team of experts has extensive knowledge and more than 20 years of experience in imaging applications. The company, headquartered in Ettlingen in southwestern Germany, was founded in 1996 by Michael Engel, the inventor of the first industrial-grade smart camera. Subsequently, several world firsts were created, including the world's first smart vision sensor and the first embedded 3D laser profiler. Today, Vision Components has sales offices in the United States and Japan, and cooperates with local partners in more than 25 countries to care for customers around the world and provide customers with professional support.
