BYD and British bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis (ADL) announced the delivery of its 500th pure electric bus in the country to Go Ahead, an operator under London Transport Authority. They also announced that the cumulative sales of electric buses in the UK have exceeded 1,000 units, and all buses will be delivered to major bus operators within the next year.

The vehicles delivered this time are all-electric double-decker buses. The entire fleet of 20 units has now been put into operation on London's No. 69 bus route, connecting Walthamstow and Canning Town in East London.

After BYD's commercial vehicles achieved good results in the European market, its passenger vehicle business has also recently officially entered the European market, and entered the Norwegian market at the end of May. It plans to deliver 1,500 Tang EVs to Norway this year, and the first batch of 100 units will be shipped at the end of the month and delivered to local consumers in the third quarter.

All of these echo BYD's "7+4" full-market strategy in the domestic new energy vehicle market - the "full transportation industry plan" for the European market, which includes future plans for forklifts, electric buses, electric trucks, electric passenger cars and other vehicles. The focus is on the strategic plan in the UK, led by electric buses, which is currently BYD's most successful business in overseas markets.

At this year's China Electric Vehicle Hundred People Conference, He Yipeng, general manager of BYD Europe Co., Ltd., said that BYD's European headquarters are in the UK and the Netherlands, and there are manufacturing centers in France and Hungary. Its main partners include bus-related companies such as ADL. BYD hopes to launch electric single-decker and double-decker buses in London in the future. If successful, it will be a first in the industry. At the same time, BYD will also be committed to creating more jobs in the UK with its manufacturing partners.

As early as 2015, BYD reached a cooperation agreement with ADL, a leading bus manufacturer in the UK, for the local market. BYD provided bus chassis, batteries and core drive technology, and Alexander Dennis' advantages in body and lightweight were combined. The cooperation between the two parties brought revolutionary products to the UK and other overseas markets.

Taking public transportation as the entry point, BYD introduced its experience in electric buses to the UK, a country that has always attached great importance to emission reduction, and achieved a win-win situation by cooperating with local companies that are more competitive in technology and brand.

Globally, BYD's green industries such as new energy vehicles, energy storage, solar energy, and rail transit have spread across six continents and more than 50 countries and regions. Its green transportation solution of "using electric vehicles to control pollution and using rail transit to solve traffic jams" has been exported and widely recognized around the world.

To date, BYD has delivered more than 65,000 pure electric buses of various types to its global partners, and the cumulative sales of new energy vehicles have exceeded 1 million, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 6 million tons.

In 2015, BYD reached a cooperation agreement with ADL for the local market, with BYD providing bus chassis, batteries and core drive technologies.

In September 2016, 51 new 12-meter single-decker pure electric buses jointly built by BYD and ADL were released in London. In less than five years, BYD and ADL completed the delivery of the 500th bus.
