Geely Automobile Holdings Limited announced its sales data for December 2020 and the whole year. The data showed that the sales volume in December 2020 was 154,202 units, an increase of about 19% year-on-year and about 2% month-on-month. Among them, Lynk & Co's sales in December were 24,853 units, an increase of about 130% year-on-year and about 9% month-on-month. The total sales volume in 2020 was 1,320,217 units, achieving the full-year sales target and winning the sales champion of Chinese brand passenger cars for four consecutive years.
In addition, Geely Auto's full-year sales target for 2021 is 1.53 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 16%. Geely Auto said that 2021 is a big year for its products and will bring a number of new models. The Geely brand will launch a new SUV model and a sedan based on the CMA architecture, as well as several facelifted models. For the Lynk & Co brand, in addition to the Lynk & Co ZERO concept car, the first Lynk & Co model based on the SPA global architecture will also be unveiled.
As the first Chinese auto brand to enter the "10 million-level passenger car club", Geely has achieved such results thanks to its long-standing adherence to the boutique car strategy and the concept of balanced development of sedans and SUVs, with new and old models "blooming in multiple places" and comprehensive coverage of the market segments. Specifically, in December, the Boyue family, the SUV sales king, sold 30,066 units, with cumulative sales exceeding 1 million; the sedan family, as the "ballast stone" of Geely Auto, especially the new "three musketeers" in the A-class car market, shined in their respective differential markets.
It is learned that in 2020, the Emgrand sedan and the Boyue family continued to maintain a strong momentum. The Emgrand sedan has been the sales champion of Chinese brand sedans for nine consecutive years, and the cumulative sales of the Emgrand family have exceeded 3 million. The Boyue family is firmly in the first camp in the SUV market. The representative model of the "Technology Geely 4.0 Era" Xingrui sold more than 12,000 units in the second month of its launch. As the industry's first fuel vehicle to achieve whole-vehicle OTA, Xingrui took the lead in opening the comprehensive OTA intelligent era of fuel vehicles. As the official designated vehicle for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, Xingrui will provide smart travel solutions for the Hangzhou Asian Games in the city and park in the next two years.
