According to foreign media reports, Ford plans to invest $100 million in the Kansas City Assembly Plant and add 150 jobs to support the production of the upcoming electric version of the Transit truck. Ford will release the electric version of the Transit on November 12, and the new car will go on sale at the end of 2021.

In 2019, Ford signed a contract with the UAW, promising to invest $400 million in the Kansas plant by 2023. Ford had previously announced that it would invest $300 million in the plant to produce the new F-150 pickup truck. With this investment, Ford's commitment to the UAW has been fulfilled.

On November 10, Ford also said it would invest $150 million in the VanDyke Transmission Plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and retain 225 jobs. The plant will produce electric motors and electronic differentials for Ford's new electric vehicles. Ford also plans to produce an electric version of the F-150 pickup truck and add 200 jobs to increase the vehicle's production by 50%, but the company did not disclose specific numbers. The electric version of the F-150 pickup truck is expected to be launched in mid-2022. Ford is currently building a separate plant at the Rouge Complex in Dearborn, Michigan, to produce electric trucks.

In addition, the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric car will arrive in dealer showrooms next month. Ford also said it plans to produce another electric car at the Cuautitlan plant in Mexico, where the Mustang Mach-E is also produced. Earlier reports said Ford plans to produce an electric crossover for the Mexican market in 2023, and the size of the new car will be similar to the Edge and Nautilus. "The new car will use an electrified platform similar to the Mustang Mach-E, which will improve production and engineering efficiency," Ford said in a statement.

Ford previously announced that it will invest approximately $11.5 billion globally by 2022 to electrify its vehicle lineup.
