Comparative analysis of HEV and PHEV production in August

Strictly speaking, 48V, HEV, PHEV (including EREV) are the only way for the entire internal combustion engine to move forward. As mentioned at the TEDA Forum, the supply of positive credits in the short term in 2020 is insufficient, and companies are indeed facing difficulties, so the previous low fuel consumption accounting method provides sufficient basis for the increase in HEV volume.

 

01. Production of PHEVs in August

The production of PHEV in August is as follows. As the volume increases, domestic brands are preparing to take back the market later. From a big perspective, as PHEV develops towards the personal market, domestic brands have adjusted their original A-class sedans for the B-end to SUVs and larger models.

As shown in the figure below, this classification situation:

German: Volkswagen's main focus is on A-class SUVs and B-class sedans. BMW and Audi are also promoting PHEVs in C-class sedans. However, the production of BMW 530le decreased in August, probably in preparation for the next step of promoting BEV.

 

European and American models: They have no presence at present. SGM may launch some PHEVs in the future, but the overall demand for A-class sedans is not obvious.

 

Korean: Currently being promoted on B-class passenger cars, it is somewhat differentiated.

 

Autonomous: In the PHEV/EREV market, BYD and SAIC are the main players. The current market environment is centered around SUVs. BYD's Han PHEV is expected to make some breakthroughs in the C-class sedan segment.

From the perspective of individual models, production volume:

NO1 Ideal One, production volume increased to 3200+

NO2 and NO3 Tiguan L and Tanyue GTE: The total cost is 4000+

NO4 Tang PHEV and NO6 Han PHEV: This is the first time that Tang has added inventory after destocking, and Han PHEV has also increased its production capacity very quickly.

NO5 BMW 530le: Production has begun to decline, BMW may be preparing for subsequent BEV

02. HEV situation in August

HEV is mainly divided into domestic and imported. Honda has surpassed Toyota in the domestic market. The main problem is that Honda is very fast in the HEV of MPV. Then it expanded to SUV and sedan. After the dual-credit policy came out for low-fuel-consumption vehicles, the overall pace of Japanese HEV promotion was accelerated.

In terms of the specific volume of HEV, HEV is indeed advancing smoothly in MPV and SUV. For such vehicles with high fuel consumption, adding a hybrid system can effectively lower the psychological threshold for use. Strictly speaking, after a large number of medium and large SUVs are hybridized, especially when local governments treat PHEVs as low-fuel-consumption vehicles after the subsidy cycle ends, the boundary between HEV and PHEV is mainly that one has points and the other does not.

Summary: From a monthly perspective, PHEV can gradually transition to be compared with HEV in the future. As 48V gradually increases in volume, we can slowly compare these three product categories together.
