The 2020 Fortune Global 500 list is announced! Mainland Chinese companies have achieved a historic leap: this year, the number of companies from mainland China (including Hong Kong) has reached 124, surpassing the United States (121) for the first time in history. Including companies from Taiwan, China, a total of 133 Chinese companies are on the list.
At the same time, the number of Chinese Internet companies on the list also exceeds that of the United States: China has four companies on the list, namely Tencent, Alibaba, JD.com, and Xiaomi, while the United States only has three companies, namely Amazon, Google, and Facebook.
Despite various challenges in the past year, Huawei has maintained its upward momentum, with its ranking rising from 61st last year to 49th this year.
The most striking change in the ranking is that this year, the number of companies from mainland China (including Hong Kong) reached 124, surpassing the United States (121) for the first time in history. Including companies in Taiwan, there are a total of 133 Chinese companies on the list.
According to Fortune magazine, there are seven Internet-related companies on the list this year, namely Amazon, Alphabet (Google's parent company), Facebook from the United States, and JD.com, Alibaba Group, Tencent Holdings and Xiaomi Group from China.
The rankings of these Chinese and American Internet companies have also improved significantly compared to last year, with Alibaba rising 50 places, the largest increase.
JD.com's ranking this year has risen by 37 places compared to last year. JD.com rebounded from the bottom in the past year and was listed in Hong Kong for the second time this year, and once entered the "100 billion US dollar club" in the US stock market.
The biggest feature of Tencent this year is that its investment in industrial Internet is continuing to generate returns. Its first quarter 2020 financial report showed that Tencent's financial technology and enterprise service revenue was 26.475 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 58%.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Xiaomi's founding. In an open letter, founder Lei Jun said that over the past decade, Xiaomi has not been defeated by difficulties, and the Xiaomi model has withstood the test of the market. In 2019, the company's annual smartphone sales reached 125 million units, ranking fourth in the world in market share, and revenue reached RMB 205.8 billion. Against the backdrop of the overall slowdown in the industry, Xiaomi still achieved a rare growth in the industry.
Huawei's 10,000 people are developing lidar technology
This morning, the 12th Automotive Blue Book Forum opened in Wuhan. Wang Jun, president of Huawei's Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU, revealed that Huawei has an optoelectronic technology research center in Wuhan with a total of more than 10,000 people. The center is currently developing laser radar technology, with the goal of quickly developing a 100-line laser radar in the short term.
Huawei plans to reduce the cost of lidar to US$200 (about RMB 1,390) or even US$100 (about RMB 695).
Wang Jun said that Huawei will use more advanced 5G technology to manufacture millimeter-wave radars, thereby greatly improving the performance of millimeter-wave radars, and even making them reach the performance of 32-line laser radars, while the price is much lower than that of laser radars.
Wang Jun also introduced Huawei's two strategies in the automotive field. One is that Huawei will use ICT technology to create components with better performance and lower prices; the other is to develop underlying software on a large scale.
