"The country will accelerate the training of graduate students in artificial intelligence" has become a hot topic. The Ministry of Education has announced the registration and approval results of undergraduate majors in ordinary higher education institutions in 2019, and determined the list of registered majors, national controlled majors and newly added non-catalog majors.
Among them, the major with the largest number of newly registered majors is artificial intelligence, which is extremely popular.
It is understood that this year, colleges and universities across the country have added 1,672 registered majors, approved 181 majors, and cancelled 367 majors. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education, the establishment and adjustment of undergraduate majors in colleges and universities shall be subject to a registration or approval system. The registration or approval work shall be centralized once a year. Colleges and universities shall set up new majors that have not yet been included in the "Professional Catalog" and shall report to the Ministry of Education for approval through the prescribed procedures before they can enroll students.
Artificial intelligence is the major with the largest number of newly registered majors, with 180 universities offering this major nationwide, a significant increase compared to 35 in 2018. In recent years, information technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence have developed rapidly, and major universities have also opened related majors in the hope of cultivating more talents for the development of these fields.
As early as the beginning of 2018, Nanjing University was the first university in Jiangsu to establish an artificial intelligence college. Since then, Southeast University, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics have all established artificial intelligence colleges or opened related majors.
