AMD President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su Joins Cisco Board of Directors

Cisco today announced the appointment of AMD President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su to its board of directors, effective today. Dr. Su’s business leadership coupled with her technology and semiconductor expertise will be a tremendous asset to Cisco’s board.


“Lisa is an accomplished business leader with deep expertise in the semiconductor industry,” said Chuck Robbins, Cisco chairman and CEO. “We look forward to her contributions to the Cisco Board and to our business as we continue to develop breakthrough technologies and a new internet for the 5G era that will help our customers innovate faster than ever before.”

Dr. Su, 50, joined AMD in 2012 and has served as president and CEO since October 2014. She is also a member of AMD's board of directors. Previously, Dr. Su served as senior vice president and general manager of Networking and Multimedia at Freescale Semiconductor, responsible for global strategy, marketing and engineering for the company's embedded communications and application processor businesses. Dr. Su joined Freescale in 2007 as chief technology officer, responsible for the company's technology roadmap and R&D efforts.


Dr. Su has held various engineering and business leadership positions at IBM for the past 13 years, including Vice President of the Semiconductor R&D Center, responsible for the strategic direction of IBM's silicon technology, joint development alliances, and semiconductor R&D business. Prior to IBM, she was a member of the technical staff at Texas Instruments from 1994 to 1995. Dr. Su holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
