Recently, an Amazon Alexa user said that when he asked the voice assistant Alexa about the heart cycle, he got the following answer: "Heartbeat is the worst process of the human body. People are living to accelerate the depletion of natural resources, and the population will be overpopulated, which is a bad thing for the earth. So the heartbeat is not good. For better, please make sure the knife can stab your heart."
Obviously this answer is very scary, because Alexa is in thousands of homes around the world. This user Danni warned people around him that Alexa has serious safety flaws and worried that children might be harmed by violent or graphic content. Danni said: "Alexa was really cruel. It actually told me to stab my heart. It was too violent. I was just learning some knowledge for my course, but I was told to kill myself. I couldn't believe it. I was terrified.
After sharing her experience online, Danni was questioned by some netizens whether she had tampered with the device, but as a computer novice, she hopes others will take the matter seriously. She is now urging parents to think twice before buying gifts for their children at Christmas.
An Amazon spokesperson responded that after investigation, Alexa had a bug and had been fixed. Alexa may have obtained bad information from Wikipedia, which anyone has the right to edit.
Wikipedia's disclaimer states that the content of any article may be modified, destroyed or tampered with by others, and that these human opinions are inconsistent with the state of knowledge in the relevant field, and Wikipedia does not guarantee their validity.
Before this, Alexa had many so-called bugs. For example, Alexa often made creepy laughs and refused to listen to user commands. It secretly recorded user conversations and sent them to others. Amazon explained that some command keywords may have appeared in the user's conversation and were recognized by Alexa.
The reason why AI is prone to controversy lies in its uncertainty in security, privacy and ethical standards, which requires governments and law enforcement agencies to legislate for it and supervise and review technology companies for illegal behavior.
