“These are the same servers that run smart agriculture and smart retail,” Huang said. “The future is software-defined, and these low-latency services that need to be deployed at the edge can now be provisioned at the edge through these servers.”
Trillions of new devices
Artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, cloud gaming, augmented reality and 5G network acceleration bring huge opportunities - according to industry estimates, one trillion new IoT devices will be added between now and 2035.
Huang Renxun said that although the performance improvement rate of CPU has slowed down, in order to meet the challenge, the computing power of GPU has increased by 300,000 times compared with 2013, and the cost per trillion computing power has also been significantly reduced.
By helping customers combine AI algorithms, powerful GPUs, intelligent NICs or network interface cards, cloud-native technologies, and 5G high-speed wireless networks, the NVIDIA EGX accelerated edge computing platform can help telecommunications companies and enterprises fully exploit the computing power of GPUs.
Huang likened all of these elements to the powerful Infinity Stones in the Marvel movies.
“These six ‘gems’ you’re looking for will put 5G on the edge, virtualize the 5G data center and create an intelligent world, which in turn will add intelligence to everything around us,” Huang said.
