Investment research firm JL Warren Capital released its latest forecast report saying that Tesla's car sales in China in the third quarter should reach about 6,400 units, with most customer orders for the cheapest model, Model 3.
As Tesla's entry-level model, Tesla Model 3 has a considerable price advantage. This model adopts a brand-new design and uses a brand-new battery architecture, bringing a brand-new experience. In order to allow more consumers to enjoy the fun of Model 3, Tesla has previously announced that it will mass-produce Model 3 in its Shanghai factory to meet the growing demand.
However, some foreign investment institutions said that Tesla's Shanghai factory may not be able to achieve "mass production" by mid-2020, so car owners who are looking forward to the domestically produced Model 3 may have to wait for a while before they can own this high-tech electric car. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously told investors that Tesla should be able to produce 1,000 or even 2,000 Model 3s per week at its Shanghai factory by the end of this year.
JL Warren Capital said that unless manual production is carried out, Tesla's Shanghai factory will not have cars rolling off the production line until November at the earliest, and the factory's production line may not be completed even if it takes another two months.
