In an interview with the media, US President Trump said that it was inappropriate for the EU to file lawsuits against US technology companies such as Facebook and Google, and that taking legal action against these companies should be the jurisdiction of the United States.

"She hates America more than anybody I've ever met," Trump said in an interview with Fox Business Network, referring to European Union Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager.

"What she's done to our country, she's suing all of our companies. We should be suing Google and Facebook and doing other things," Trump said. "But instead they're suing Apple, they're suing everybody."

In recent years, EU regulators have frequently scrutinized Apple, Google, and Facebook. Google previously paid a record 8 billion euro fine for abusing its market power in three different cases. In 2017, EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager forced tech giant Apple to pay 13 billion euros in back taxes after the agency ruled that the tax agreement Apple signed with Ireland was illegal.

However, the US government is also eyeing these technology giants. In early June this year, according to Reuters, the US government is preparing to launch an unprecedented large-scale investigation into the powerful market power of Amazon , Apple, Facebook and Google.
